Vintage rigid plastic steering wheels
Loose steering wheel rims are a safety hazard because, even in normal driving situations, they can cause the drivers hand to roll off the wheel during turning and thereby lose control of the vehicle. Using our steering wheel re-bonding and surface refinishing systems, these loose steering wheel rubbers can be repaired permanently and securely, often on the car and with no disruption to the airbag system or the cosmetic finish of the wheel.

Robert, Please leave existing old gif in place here but delete- “ Even badly degraded steering wheels can be rebuilt to replace worn or missing sections of the flexible rim” and delete the existing old pair of before-and-after photos to make way for the two new segments below. Thanks.
Polyurethane Steering wheels often degrade and the sealed surface breakdowns due to sun exposure and the permeation of body oils and hand creams. Sometimes referred to as foam rubber steering wheels or Foamed PU wheels, these can be restored to near original new condition.
Worn and shaggy leather bound steering wheels are also a safety hazard and may need to be repaired for Roadworthy Certificates. We can re-bonding the surface to a smooth and presentable condition that will make your car a pleasure to drive again.
Older steering wheels can be made of a variety of materials including Bakelite, PU and other more rigid vinyl like plastics. Over time these materials shrink and become more rigid causing large cracks to appear and the metal rim inside the wheel to be exposed.
Almost all types of these vintage wheels can be restored with our special reinforced adhesives.
Note: The remaining original material on the rim will continue to shrink with age and therefore may crack again after some time, however these cracks almost always occur away from the Uticolor repaired areas.
At selected franchisees only.
Many vehicles today suffer from drooping, fallen headlinings. This is usually because the thin layer of foam backing behind the fabric has degraded due to heat and oxidisation. If let go, this will result in a collapsed, loose and limp cloth that can sag down far enough to obstruct the drivers vision.
Very small sections of this delamination can often be repaired but this is an indicator that the problem will soon spread until the whole ceiling becomes an unsightly baggy nuisance.
To do the job properly, Uticolor technicians remove the whole hoodlining card structure from the vehicle to manually scrub off the degraded foam layer. Because the original fabric cannot be reused, Uticolor technicians fit new foam backed fabric that fully conforms to the individual contours of the vehicle hoodlining thus restoring the lining to new condition.
